Finnish weapons can be used to strike Russian territory; the country has not imposed any restrictions on military aid.

Finland has not imposed any restrictions on its military assistance and Ukraine can use the weapons provided by Finland on Russian territory as well. This is what the leadership of the parliamentary defence committee and the Finnish Defence Ministry claim, Yle reported on 28 February.

According to Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen, the restrictions on the use of weapons were imposed mainly by the countries that provided Ukraine with long-range weapon systems.

The issue was raised when Andrus Merilo, commander of the Estonian Defence Forces, said on Wednesday that the West had made a mistake by restricting the use of the weapons it had provided to Ukraine to Ukrainian territory.

As far as I know, Finland has not imposed any such restrictions and Ukraine should have the right to use these weapons against military targets on Russian territory as well," said Jukka Kopra, chairman of Finland's parliamentary defence committee.

Defence Minister Häkkänen says Finland is constantly discussing with its allies restrictions on arms assistance to Ukraine.
