Danilov tells what to expect from Russia on 24 February
Russia is amassing troops near Ukraine's borders.
National Security and Defence Council Secretary Aleksey Danilov has not ruled out that Russia may choose 24 February as the day of a new offensive. In his opinion, it is important for Russia's current leaders, who are mental descendants of the Soviet Union, to have at least some achievements by certain sacred dates, he said in an interview with Radio Liberty.
Therefore, it is quite possible that a new offensive may begin on February 24th," he said.
He pointed out that the occupiers are primarily preparing for an attack in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
They have objectives regarding Donetsk and Luhansk regions in order for them to fully reach their borders. They have been trying to figure out our defence for a week now. There is some troop build-up there now," Danilov said.
The NSDC secretary also noted that the Russian Federation continues mobilization and pulling "iron" to the borders.
The Armed Forces should be in maximum concentration and readiness," he stressed.
At the same time, Danilov is confident that the occupiers will not be able to repeat the situation of February 2022 and there will be no full-scale offensive.
Our country in February 2022 and February 2023 is a different situation. Moreover, we do not understand how it can happen now. Today the vigilance on the border and the vigilance of our Armed Forces is completely different," he stressed.
The NSDC secretary added that for Ukraine, it has complete data on the accumulation of Russian troops and their possible offensive directions.
