Rainy weather has come in Ukraine, and if you can protect your head from moisture with an umbrella or a hood, then shoes will constantly suffer from water.



The range of products in stores that should protect our shoes from getting wet is quite extensive. Some products are positioned as those made on natural ingredients, others are completely synthetic in origin. their price and quality also vary. However, as experts assure, in order to protect shoes from heavy rains, it is not necessary to buy these funds. You need to rummage in the kitchen drawers or look in the first aid kit.

There are many tips on the Internet on how to keep your shoes from leaking. However, they all begin with a warning that conditional boots should be treated with one or another means only after they have been thoroughly cleaned.

The following methods are suitable for shoes made of leather or leatherette.

Option 1

Goose or lamb fat is suitable for this method. It should be mixed with wax, a little drip into a mixture of castor oil. Apply the resulting "porridge" to the shoes and rub it thoroughly into the skin. Leave overnight.

Option 2

You will need wax grated on a fine grater. For a pair of shoes, 1 teaspoon will be enough. It should be mixed with petrol for lighters. It is necessary to stir such a mixture until the paraffin is completely dissolved. It is better to apply it on shoes with a cotton pad. Leave overnight. For a faster effect, you can blow the shoes out of the hair dryer. At the same time, shoes treated in this way should be kept away from open flames. It can ignite.

Option 3

You will need castor oil + linseed oil + paraffin. Take 2 tsp. castor and linseed oil. Add 1 teaspoon of paraffin there. Stir until completely dissolved in a water bath. Apply warm mixture on shoes, leave overnight.

Option 4

Need: turpentine + fish oil + linseed oil. Mix ½ tbsp. tablespoons of turpentine, 4 teaspoons of fish oil and 4 teaspoons of linseed oil. It is also necessary to rub shoes, leave overnight.

Option 5

Needed: 20 g of beeswax, 10 g of turpentine, 50 g of rosin. Mix and apply on shoes, leave overnight

Option 6

The simplest candle will do. She should rub the shoes and warm them up with a hairdryer so that the paraffin lies smoothly on the surface. Repeat several times.

Option 7

The simplest Vaseline will help make your shoes more resistant to rain.

What to do if the shoes are still wet?

First, it should be cleaned of dirt and allowed to dry away from heat sources. A battery or heater can permanently deform the sole and then the pair can only be thrown away. When the shoes are dry, apply a water repellent.
