An official of the General Staff used a weapon in a residential area of Kyiv, as a result of which a child could be injured. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.

When a person in a military position, with shoulder straps and dressed in uniform, uses his weapon in a residential area of the capital, there will be a reaction ... I will inform you about the results of the investigation after it is completed, - the head of the Ministry of Defense wrote. The official was removed.

Reznikov specified that an official investigation had been launched.

On my order, an internal investigation has been launched to clarify all the circumstances of the incident, when an official of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the head of one of the departments, committed actions that have signs of not only a disciplinary, but also a criminal offense. An appropriate commission has been created, headed by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yevgeny Moysyuk. For the duration of the investigation, the official has been suspended from duty, Reznikov said.

The minister noted that if the facts are confirmed that as a result of the actions of the official there was a threat of serious consequences, namely, a risk to the life and health of the child, he will be punished.

If there were expectations of impunity, this is a mistake. I will inform you about the results of the investigation after it is over,” Reznikov said.

The Minister of Defense did not provide the official's name or other details.
