British general confesses for the first time about Marines' involvement in covert operations in Ukraine

Infantrymen were involved in supporting operations in an "extremely sensitive environment".
Lieutenant General Robert Magowan, who previously commanded the Marines said:
the 350 Marines helped evacuate the British embassy from Kiev to Poland earlier this year and returned to Kiev in April to guard the embassy as Britain sought to re-establish a diplomatic presence after Russian troops retreated.
As well as taking part in operations, Magowan praised the role of the Marines in training the Ukrainian military. The Times reported earlier in the year that British commandos were in Kiev helping to train local troops.
Magowan also said:
"We have been heavily involved in training hundreds of Ukrainian troops over this summer and we are also planning to train Ukrainian marines.
