Shoigu has made a visit to North Korea in just over a year.

The secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergey Shoigu, has travelled to North Korean President Kim Jong-un to ask him for more weapons to kill Ukrainians. This was reported by Bloomberg.

The publication points out that according to official sources, Shoigu and Kim discussed the "document on bilateral strategic partnership" signed by Kim and Putin in June.

Bloomberg points out that this is Shoigu's second visit to North Korea in just over a year. And the first time the Russian representative was interested only in armaments.

As Russia's then-defence minister, he met with Kim in July 2023 and was given a tour of North Korea's latest weaponry, which included ballistic missiles that Ukraine and other countries said were on the battlefield within months," the paper recalled.

The newspaper points out that after Shoigu's previous visit to North Korea, satellite images showed an increase in trade between North Korea and Russia, which, according to the US and its allies, included millions of artillery shells as well as short-range ballistic missiles that Russia used to attack Ukraine.

Bloomberg emphasised that Kim pledged North Korean support for Moscow's military operations in Ukraine and beyond.

Moscow said after Shoigu's visit that it intended to "deepen and expand" cooperation with the North Korean regime.
