Aliyev tells what role he is ready to play in ending the war in Ukraine

Azerbaijan is ready to make efforts to settle the Russian-Ukrainian war. This was stated by President Ilham Aliyev at an international forum in Italy on 6 September.
According to him, his country will be able to successfully fulfil the role of a "peacemaker" thanks to "pragmatic relations" that Baku is trying to preserve with all states.
If we talk about a hypothetical possibility, it is quite feasible. First of all, given that together with Russia and Ukraine we were part of the USSR for 70 years, we maintain multifaceted ties at the level of personal contacts and at the political level," Aliyev stressed. Aliyev.
He also stressed that Baku supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, but indicated that it would not join the sanctions campaign against Russia.
Azerbaijan has not yet initiated proposals to end Russia's war against Ukraine. This is the first time Baku expresses willingness to do so if "participation is required.
