Zelensky said how many Patriot systems are needed to close the entire sky over Ukraine

Ukraine needs more air defence systems to defend against missiles and drone strikes by the Russian military.
Ukraine needs 25 Patriot air defence systems or their analogues in order to completely close the sky over the country. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In order to close Ukraine completely, it is desirable for Ukraine to have 25 Patriot systems, 6-8 batteries each," the head of state said.
He noted that this number was calculated taking into account the current structure of Ukraine's air defence in combination with other defence systems.
The President added that similar air defence systems can also do an excellent job of protecting the sky above Ukraine.
He added that he had never announced the required number of such systems before, but he sees no point in hiding it, as all partners have been informed about it and know where such equipment is most needed.
Speaking about the defence of the energy sector, the President pointed out that the state has a stock of air defence systems for today.
But we need to think about what will happen tomorrow. Tomorrow the intensity may continue in such a way that we will not have enough. If they hit every day, as they have been hitting for the last month, we may lack missiles, and also partners know this," the president said.
Note that the name of the system is an abbreviation of Phased Array Tracking Radar for Intercept on Target (PATRIOT, a multifunctional radar station for controlling an anti-aircraft missile system). The surface-to-air missile defence system for all theatres of war, created by the American company Raytheon Technologies, is considered one of the most advanced air defence systems in the world.
Patriot is not just an installation but, in fact, an integrated air defence system that covers an area within a radius of up to 68 kilometres. Its radar can simultaneously track up to 50 targets and engage five of them.
