Ukraine must decide what compromises it is prepared to make.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has suggested that Ukraine may eventually have to make concessions in the war with Russia. The BBC reports that.

At the end of the day, it is Ukraine that has to decide what compromises it is willing to make, we have to give it the opportunity to be in a position where it does reach an acceptable result at the negotiating table," he said.

At the same time, he indicated that he was not calling on Ukraine to make concessions now, and added that "real peace" would be achieved when "Ukraine wins."

Stoltenberg also said that the West continues to support Ukraine and will do so for a long period of time if necessary.

Even if we believe and hope that the war will end in the near future, we must support Ukraine for many years and build its defence to deter future aggression," the NATO secretary-general said.

He explained that military support is a condition for forcing Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to abandon his goals of occupying Ukrainian lands.
