The Air Force has told whether the Kh-22 and Onyx missiles can be shot down

It is these missiles that Russia is increasingly using to attack southern Ukraine
This was told by the speaker of the AFU Air Force, Yuriy Ignat, after a night attack on Odessa Region with Kh-22, Onyx, Kh-59 missiles, Kalibras and kamikaze drones. On the night of 19 July, the occupiers used land-, air- and sea-based missiles for the attack.
According to him, the Kh-22 missile is a cruise missile, it flies at a high speed - more than 4,000 kilometres per hour and actually attacks on a ballistic trajectory. Therefore, to shoot them down, we need appropriate means - for example, Patriot, explained the representative of the Air Force on the air of Radio Liberty.
"Onyx" are anti-ship missiles that first fly at high altitude, their speed is more than 3,000 kilometres per hour. And when approaching the target, they drop to 10-15 metres, very low above the water surface. The Russian Federation uses them for ground targets and the sea coast. Because they fly so low, it is difficult to detect them, let alone shoot them down.
He noted that Oniks missiles can be affected by means of electronic warfare. These are missiles of the Bastion coastal missile system. They are designed to destroy ships and fly low over water.
In recent days, Russia has been using these missiles to attack southern Ukraine - during this time, the Ukrainian air defence forces have not shot down a single one of them
The defence forces are doing everything to counter these Onyxes. Actually Onyx and Kh-22 often do not reach their targets. Here is the merit of the defenders, who can influence them by other means," Ignat added on the air of the telethon.
We shall remind you: on the night of 19 July, Odessa was subjected to a massive rocket attack.
