Ministry of Justice says those involved in execution of Ukrainian fighter face punishment

Those involved in the gruesome execution of an AFU soldier will face trial and responsibility. Additionally, the case may be sent to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Deputy Justice Minister Valeriya Kolomiets made this statement.

She stressed that the criminals will be punished no matter when they are caught, as the case has no statute of limitations.

The people who did this, if we can call them so, they should and can face the Ukrainian justice system. They also committed, according to the Rome Statute, a war crime. That is why the case can also be considered in the International Criminal Court," Kolomiets said.

Valeriya Kolomiets added that such a case was not an isolated one. Russians commit crimes not only against the Ukrainian military but also kill and maim civilians.

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that the Ukrainian intelligence service has preliminarily identified the participants and the executor of the execution of the Ukrainian POW. Also, the State Intelligence Service already knows the location where the crime was committed by the Russians.
