In Kherson, a collaborator who voluntarily collaborated with the enemy and carried out repression of local residents was detained.

This is reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, a resident of Kherson during the occupation of the region began working with the invaders. The husband signed an "oath of a Russian citizen" and started working in a local prison called "isolator No. 1". As a "junior inspector" he escorted kidnapped Ukrainians to the cells, where he participated in torture.

It was established that the perpetrator beat Ukrainian captives, took away their personal belongings and left them without food and water for a long time. During the physical abuse of the victims the collaborator repeatedly threatened to kill them, - reported in the SBU.

It is noted that the occupants took such actions to intimidate local residents.

The attacker tried to evade justice after the liberation of the city. However, the SBU officers established his whereabouts and detained him.

The detainee was searched and found "documents" confirming the man's co-operation with the occupants. He was reported on suspicion under part 7 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration activities). The issue of electing a measure of restraint in the form of detention is being decided. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
