The lifting of the ban on the supply of US weapons to Azov was the result of a long struggle against Russian propaganda.
TheUS Embassy in Ukraine has confirmed that the 12th special-purpose brigade Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine has passed the check stipulated by the US legislation and is eligible to receive security assistance from the USA. This is reported on the official page of the brigade "Azov" in Facebook.
It is noted that this was the result of long and painstaking work, which the servicemen of "Azov" systematically conducted in the plane of the fight against the successful results of Russian propaganda.
The brigade stressed that they are grateful to the Interior Ministry of Ukraine, the command of the National Guard, the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States and everyone who "openly or behind the scenes joined in overcoming this ban".
The lies about Azov, which the Kremlin regime has been spreading in the West for years, have received a crushing blow today," the statement said.
It is noted that the receipt of Western weapons and training from the United States will not only increase the combat effectiveness of Azov, but, most importantly, will contribute to preserving the lives and health of the brigade's personnel.
This is a new page in the history of our unit. "Azov is becoming even more powerful, even more professional and even more dangerous for the occupants," the brigade said.
Earlier, The Wasington Post quoted the State Department as saying that the USA had lifted the ban on supplying weapons to the Azov brigade.
Now the brigade, once a volunteer militia that in 2015 became part of the National Guard of Ukraine, will have access to the same US military assistance as all other units," the report said.
A US State Department spokesman did not say when the ban was lifted and whether US weapons reached Azov fighters.
