Units of the Armed Forces of Belarus have been brought to the highest combat readiness


Belarus has put its troops on alert.
Belarus has launched a surprise inspection of combat readiness of the army on the instructions of Commander-in-Chief, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the report, some units have already been brought to the highest levels of combat readiness, moved to the designated areas and begin to perform combat tasks. The activities are under the control of the State Secretariat of the Security Council.
A set of measures is being carried out to put them (the Armed Forces) on high alert for the purpose of verification," the statement said.
Authorities emphasise that the purpose of the exercise is "to test the readiness of the armed forces to respond to possible threats". The scope and timing of the exercise was not disclosed.
