UN: 232 civilians killed in Ukraine in June, a three-year record

Casualties have been recorded in at least 16 oblasts and in Kiev.
In June 2025, Ukraine recorded the highest number of civilian casualties in three years - 232 dead and 1,343 injured. This is stated in the report of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission to Ukraine published on 10 July.
According to the mission, Russia launched 10 times more missile strikes and attacks using barrage munitions in June alone than in the same period in 2024. Virtually no region of Ukraine remained safe, with casualties recorded in at least 16 regions and in Kyiv.
Civilians across Ukraine are facing suffering we have not seen in more than three years. An increase in long-range rocket attacks and drone attacks is bringing more death and destruction to regions far from the front line," said Danielle Bell, head of the mission.
The UN also confirms a worrying worsening trend, with civilian deaths and injuries reaching 6,754 in the first six months of 2025 - a 54 per cent increase on the 4,381 casualties documented in the same period last year.
