The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, did not make statements about the threat to Ukraine's existence in the absence of "serious negotiations" until the summer.

This information, which previously appeared in the media, turned out to be inaccurate. This was reported by the GUR press service.

The intelligence agency denied reports that Budanov allegedly made such statements at a closed meeting with MPs and representatives of the Defence Forces. The GUR stressed that the circulated quote did not correspond to reality.

The agency urged media representatives not to spread rumours and unverified information, especially on national security and defence issues, which could be distorted in the interests of certain political figures.

The GUR also reminded that the publication of data discussed at secret meetings with the participation of the military and political leadership damages the security of the state and can be used by the enemy.

Ukraine continues its armed struggle for independence. The war with Russia continues and the information dimension of the war remains critical. We remind of the martial law in force throughout the entire territory of our state," the statement said.
