Top Priority for NATO: Strengthening Ukraine's Air Defense
The NATO Secretary General noted that now the escalation from Russia is at the highest level since February 24.
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the ministerial meeting of the Alliance states in Brussels.
We will consider how to increase support for Ukraine, and the top priority will be strengthening Ukraine's air defense," he said.
The Secretary General welcomed the fact that NATO allies are transferring air defense systems to Ukraine, separately noting Germany.
He also noted that the lack of air defense in Ukraine leads to civilian deaths, the destruction of critical civilian infrastructure, and serious attacks on the energy system on the eve of winter.
All this demonstrates the urgent need for more air defense assets for Ukraine. The Allies provided air defense systems, but more is needed. We need different types of air defense systems - short range, long range, air defense systems against ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, drones, different systems for different tasks, Stoltenberg said.
The Secretary General also noted that now the escalation from Russia is at the highest level since February 24.
