Three key questions: Zelensky revealed what he wants to discuss with Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has voiced the key topics he intends to discuss with US President Donald Trump if their meeting takes place. The focus is on arms supplies, new sanctions against Russia and strengthening diplomatic pressure on Moscow. This was stated by Zelensky on 20 June at a meeting with journalists.

According to the head of state, negotiations between the teams of Ukraine and the USA continue, the agenda of upcoming meetings in various formats is being discussed. Special attention is paid to the NATO summit in The Hague, where Ukraine may receive the status of an invited participant. In addition, meetings with the leaders of the Coalition of the willing, which includes the USA, are planned.

As for the purchase of Patriot anti-missile systems, Zelensky emphasised that the decision depends not only on the Trump administration, but also on the coalition of countries willing to support Ukraine. Ukraine has already handed over to the USA a package of requests for military aid, including the Patriots. According to the President, there is readiness to finance this package.

In addition to weapons, Zelensky intends to raise the issue of tougher sanctions against Russia, as well as to "give a new impetus" to the diplomatic process. He noted that Ukraine needs clarity and strong pressure from the international community on the Kremlin to advance the negotiations.

Zelensky added that his participation in the NATO summit does not depend on a meeting with Trump - the decision to travel will be made at the last minute. But he emphasised the importance of invitations from the leaders of the Netherlands and other countries, as well as the significance of a potential meeting with the US leader.

On the margins of the summit, Ukraine is scheduled to hold separate talks with the foreign and defence ministers of NATO countries, which opens up additional opportunities for cooperation.

We would like to point out that the day before Zelenskyy expected to meet Trump at the summit in Canada, but the latter left the forum early and returned to the USA.
