The Kremlin planned to plant a puppet government in Kyiv.

The Russian Federal Security Service planned to install a puppet government in the event of the occupation of Kyiv. The Washington Post writes about it.

Before the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Federation created two groups of the pro-Russian government.

The central figure of the first group was Yanukovych; on March 7, he flew with his group to Belarus in anticipation of the return of power himself.

Viktor Medvedchuk, who the SBU detained in April, should also be one of the central figures in this puppet government.

The second group, which included former members of the Party of Regions, was intended for the occupied territories of southeastern Ukraine.

The Washington Post tried to contact Yanukovych, but he did not respond. The journalists managed to get in touch with the ex-premier Azarov. He also called "nonsense" statements about plans to return Yanukovych to power in Ukraine.
