The combined calculation of the portable anti-aircraft missile system "Igla" acted promptly and professionally.
A combined crew of the Igla man-portable surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS) of the 31st brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine has shot down a Russian Su-25 warplane. This was reported by the National Guard on 28 June.
In Donetsk region, the guardsmen detected an enemy Su-25, also known as "Grach", making a combat sortie in the sky.
The Igla MANPADS team acted promptly and professionally. The Su-25 attack aircraft was shot down.
The fact that another attack aircraft of the occupying forces of the Russian Federation was destroyed reduces the enemy's ability to harm our Defence Forces and the civilian population.
The fulfilment of this task was possible thanks to the coordinated work, training and determination of the Ukrainian guardsmen.
This once again emphasises the high professionalism and courage of the fighters of the National Guard of Ukraine, who daily risk their lives to protect our state.
Earlier, Socialportal reported that for the first time a Russian Tu-22MZ bomber was destroyed about 300 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
