The film "20 Days in Mariupol" won the BAFTA award

In the history of Ukrainian cinema this is the first BAFTA award of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
The Ukrainian documentary film "20 Days in Mariupol" has won the BAFTA film award in the category "Best Documentary". This is reported on the website of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
The award was presented on 18 February in London. This is the first BAFTA award in the history of Ukrainian cinema. Director of the film Mstislav Chernov, at the ceremony noted that this film is about the people of Ukraine.
The film tells how Mariupol experienced the first weeks of the Russian invasion - shelling and civilian deaths. The film documents the deaths of many people and children in the city surrounded by Russian troops.
"20 Days in Mariupol" is produced by the Associated Press and Frontline. As members of the Associated Press team Mstislav Chernov, photographer Eugene Maloletka and producer Vasilisa Stepanenko arrived in Mariupol on 24 February an hour before the invasion began
This is a film also about the work of war reporters and documenting history.
