The EU is preparing the eighth package of sanctions

Work on the next package of sanctions could begin as early as autumn.
Matti Maasikas , head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine, spoke about this.
I can't give you any details about this, when and how it will happen, but I'm sure it's worth waiting for. And it will, he said.
He hinted that work on the eighth package could be activated in the fall.
“I don't think it's possible to say right now that there is a period of very active work in Brussels, but it continues, as well as in member states demanding more sanctions. EU institutions should take this into account, and they are doing it,” Maasikas said.
The previous seventh package of sanctions was adopted on 21 July. The sixth package of sanctions with a really serious limitation - the oil embargo - was introduced in early June.
