Two possible strategies for a Ukrainian counter-offensive are revealed

Politico: Ukraine has not yet decided on a counter-offensive strategy, but there are two options.
This was reported by Politico, citing sources among Western officials.
The first option is to move south through Kherson oblast into Crimea.
The second option is to move east from its northern position and then south, cutting the Russian land bridge.

Politico's interlocutors told:
The first strategy is unrealistic, because Russia is entrenched in its defences on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River, and Ukraine has no manpower for a successful landing operation against this kind of defence. The second option is more likely.
Journalists also noted:
Behind closed doors, US officials insist that the AFU is saving artillery ammunition. This is especially true in Bakhmut, Donetsk Region, where both the AFU and Russian occupiers are expending shells at a rapid pace. However, US officials are careful not to tell Kiev how to conduct combat operations.
