The SBU has detained an enemy spy who was spying on units of AFU marines in Mykolaivshchyna.

The SBU counterintelligence service has detained another spy of the Russian security services who was scouting locations where the Defence Forces were stationed in Mykolayiv Region. This was reported by the SBU on 29 January.

Among the main tasks of the spy was to identify and transfer possible geolocations of the command and combat units of the AFU Marines. To collect intelligence, she walked around the area and covertly recorded the objects of the Ukrainian troops, - reported in the special service.

She also questioned acquaintances, finding out the information she needed under the guise of confidential conversations.

Employees of the SBU exposed the spy at the initial stage of her activities. After that, all her criminal actions were documented step by step. The spy was detained while trying to fulfil a new intelligence assignment.

After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, a local resident made messages on social networks in support of the occupants and the seizure of part of the territory of Ukraine. Thus, she came to the attention of the Russian intelligence service and was remotely recruited.

Investigators of the SBU informed her of suspicion under part 2 of article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorised dissemination of information about the movement, movement or location of the AFU).

The spy is in custody. She faces up to eight years in prison.
