The transfer was negotiated for more than six months.
This was reported by the Slovak daily Právda.
The publication quoted acting Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Geher as saying:
The government has unanimously approved the international agreement and decided to donate MiG-29 and Kub SAMs to Ukraine.
According to the prime minister, these fighters should be used for defence and air defence, not for attack.
Slovak Defence Minister Jaroslav Nagy confirmed that 13 MiG-29 fighters and part of the Kub system would be transferred to Ukraine. Negotiations had been under way for more than six months.
