SBU detains FSB "canned" in Chernihiv region


The SBU has detained an agent - a "canned" FSB agent who spied on the Defence Forces in Chernihiv region.
Security Service of Ukraine (SBU ) counterintelligence officers have detained an FSB agent who had been in "standby mode" on the border territory of Chernihiv Region for more than a year. This is reported by the SBU.
Since October 2023, on the instructions of the Russian secret service agent began to collect intelligence on the dislocation of Ukrainian defenders in the region.
First of all, the figure tried to establish the exact coordinates of the headquarters of the AFU, which are involved in the defence of the northern borders of Ukraine. He was also interested in the locations of fortifications and places of greatest concentration of personnel and military equipment of the Ukrainian defenders," the report said.
SBU officers detained the Russian agent during the performance of the next task in the area of possible location of one of the objects of the Defence forces.
The attacker is a 20-year-old resident of Novhorod-Siverska community, who was recruited by the FSB back in March 2022 during the temporary occupation of part of the region.
The agent received an operational alias "Shut" and instructions to conduct intelligence and subversive activities in favour of the Russian Federation. After the liberation of Chernihiv region, the occupants left their agent on the territory of the region and put him in "standby mode".
During a search at the place of residence of the detainee, evidence of illegal activities was found. Investigators of the SBU informed him of suspicion under part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
A preventive measure of detention has been chosen for the defendant. The attacker faces life imprisonment.
