New fuel standards to come into force in Ukraine from May

The changes are fixed at the legislative level.
The Verkhovna Rada obliged to sell gasoline and diesel fuel with the addition of 10% biofuel from May 1. Channel 24 writes about it.
It is said that the Verkhovna Rada approved the draft law "On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine and other legislative acts on the introduction of a single contribution and accounting for denatured ethyl alcohol and chemical and technical products."
The document provides for a reduction in value added tax (VAT) on alternative fuels from 20% to 7% and zero excise duty. Corresponding standards for "regular" gasoline and diesel fuel during martial law were introduced earlier.
In addition, it is proposed to amend the law "On Alternative Fuels", according to which the share of the mandatory use of liquid biofuels (biocomponents) in motor gasoline from May 1, 2022 should be at least 10%.
The exception will be gasoline with an octane rating of 98 or higher, as well as gasoline for the needs of the Ministry of Defense, the State Reserve and the creation of minimum stocks of petroleum products.
In case of non-compliance with the norms for the content of biofuel in gasoline, it is proposed to set a fine of seven living wages for every 1,000 liters of a dispensed batch of gasoline. For violation of the deadlines for providing information on the content of biofuel up to seven days, it is proposed to set a fine of 100 living wages, more than seven days - 150 living wages.
