Russians claim breakthrough in modernising 'shaheds'

Russia is home to two Geranium (Shahed) UAV factories that produce hundreds of drones every week.
Russia has announced "significant improvements" in Geranium (Shahed) drones. According to local publicks, the Russian Federation is claiming important technological progress in the modernisation of strike UAVs.
It is claimed that the new Geranium models have increased both their altitude and flight speed, which "should make them more difficult to intercept by air defence assets". It is also emphasised that these drones can now pose a threat to modern fighter jets, including the F-16.
Among other improvements announced by the Russian developers are the following: an updated airframe, which allows the drone to dive at high speed, bypassing air defence systems; improved protection against electronic warfare with new anti-spoofing algorithms; and a nearly doubling of the warhead's power to 90kg.
In addition, the Russians claim to be introducing new tactics for the use of drones, but the details of these innovations are not disclosed.
What is known is that Russia is working on introducing artificial intelligence into Shahed drones, with the aim of creating a "drone swarm." According to the plan, these drones will exchange information and coordinate their actions to effectively suppress Ukrainian air defences.
