Russian defence ministry 'rehearsed' nuclear strike on Putin's orders

on 29 February, Vladimir Putin, during his address, again threatened the West with the "destruction of civilisation" if NATO ground troops were sent to Ukraine.
A combat training launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile of the mobile Yars complex was conducted at the Russian Plesetsk cosmodrome. This was reported by the propagandists of "RIA Novosti".
According to the official version, the purpose of the launch was to confirm the tactical-technical and flight characteristics of the modern missile system.
Strategic Missile Forces practised the order of redeployment to a remote area of the launch battery of PGRC "Yars" with the preparation and conduct of the launch, - said in the message.
We shall remind you that during his address on 29 February, Vladimir Putin said that there would be "tragic consequences" if NATO ground troops were sent to Ukraine. Putin added that the Russian Federation has weapons that can hit targets on the territory of Western countries and did not rule out a conflict "with the use of nuclear weapons, and thus the destruction of civilisation".
According to the Stockholm Institute for Peace Research (SIPRI), Russia's armed forces had 171 Yars launchers at the beginning of 2023. These systems account for more than half of all land-based strategic nuclear weapons carriers in the country.
