Russia is approaching Pokrovsk: the city is preparing for a new stage of the war

The Economist has published a piece on the situation around the town of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Region, which, according to journalists, has become an important strategic target for Russian troops.
The article says that Pokrovsk may become the epicentre of a new stage of the war in eastern Ukraine.
The situation on the front, according to The Economist, points to an intensification of offensive actions by Russian forces in this direction. The redeployment of troops and intensification of artillery strikes in the Pokrovsk area indicate possible preparations for a massive offensive.
Pokrovsk, which for a long time was in the relative rear, is now preparing for defence. Local authorities and the military are strengthening security measures, evacuating the population and reinforcing positions.
Experts note that the loss of Pokrovsk could significantly change the situation on the front, giving Russian forces access to strategically important areas and threatening cities such as Dnipro and Zaporizhzhya.
Thus, the situation in the Pokrovsk area is becoming critical, and in the coming weeks this city could become one of the key points in the development of the conflict.
