The reason for convening the meeting, the Russians say, alleged provocations of the Ukrainian side.

Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

I confirm. We have requested a meeting on Ukrainian shelling of the ZNPP,” he wrote.

The meeting is scheduled for August 11th. Polyansky said, "Ukrainian provocations should not be hidden from the masses."

Also, some sources claim that the Russian side requested the participation of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi as a speaker.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a telephone conversation with the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, called for sanctions against the nuclear industry and nuclear fuel of the Russian Federation due to the shelling of the ZNPP.
