Paris airport workers announce new protests
On Saturday, July 2, at the Paris airport between 6.00 and 13.00 every fifth flight was canceled due to the strike.
Striking workers at the Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport have warned that they will stage another demonstration at the main international hub of the French capital from July 8 to 10, demanding higher wages due to inflation that has set in in Europe. About it, writes Reuters .
The decision to strike was also influenced by the increased workload on airport workers. They stated that they did not have time to cope with the load due to the fact that some of the staff were fired from airports during the covid crisis, and now passenger traffic has increased.
Large passenger flows have created huge problems for companies that have previously fired porters, ticket sellers and flight attendants. Now many companies cannot recruit staff: employees began to demand higher salaries and refuse to leave on the terms that they are offered, writes the Politico edition.
Airport operator ADP offered employees a 4% pay rise if they agreed to end the strike on Friday, but the offer was rejected by the employees.
The current strike, which began on Thursday, is known to continue until Sunday, although France's civil aviation authority has said fewer disruptions are expected.
At the same time, Air France said that it retained all of its long-haul flights and 90% of services on medium distances.
