Power cuts could be back next week due to hot weather

The heatwave will cause an increase in electricity consumption and so they will introduce blackout schedules again
Deputy Energy Minister of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk said that the power outage schedules would be returned from 17 August.
Earlier, the DETC said that there might be no blackouts until October, but only if there are no new damages to power facilities due to Russian strikes or abnormal heat. Apparently, the latter condition will not be fulfilled.
Ukraine has lost more than 9 GW of power generating capacity due to Russian strikes on the energy system, which is 50% of the total power generation, which was 17.8 GW for 2021. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine plans to build up to 1 GW of gas-fired manoeuvre generation this year and another 4 GW in the coming years.
Power engineers once again appealed to citizens to show awareness and limit the use of air conditioners.
