The Security Service of Ukraine has prevented an attempt on Zelensky's life prepared by Russian security services through an agent in Poland.

Ukrainian and Polish law enforcers have foiled another attempt to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The plot was prepared by a Polish citizen recruited by the Russian security services. This was reported by the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk.

According to Malyuk, the Russians recruited a Polish military pensioner, an adherent of Soviet ideology, decades ago, and now he was activated to prepare the assassination of the President. The criminals' goal was to physically eliminate Zielenski at Poland's Rzeszów airport, where two attack scenarios were considered - using an FPV drone or sniper weapons.

The operation to prevent the assassination attempt was carried out by the SBU together with the Polish Internal Security Agency. Maliuk emphasised the high professionalism of his Polish colleagues.

This is not the first attempt on Zelensky's life. Earlier, last year, the SBU exposed a group of colonels of the State Protection Directorate who worked for the Russian FSB and were preparing an assassination attempt on the president in Kiev. The attackers were also collecting data to prepare the murders of the head of the GUR, Kirill Budanov, and Malyuk himself.

According to the SBU head, the liquidation of the president was then handled by the 5th FSB service under the leadership of General Serhiy Beseda, who later lost his position after the operation failed.
