Under the legal regime of martial law and mobilisation measures, there has been a significant increase in the number of detentions of male persons aged between 18 and 60 attempting to leave Ukraine to avoid military service.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Service.
Potential fugitives use various illegal schemes, such as using the services of telegram channels and social networks to cross the state border bypassing checkpoints and using forged documents to leave Ukraine through established checkpoints.
Recently, border guards have recorded some attempts of potential "evaders" to leave the border using the features of the transit section of the motorway "Odessa-Reni", which they get to with the assistance of drivers of lorries," the report says.
Since the beginning of this year border guards have detected and prevented four such cases. They detained 11 border violators and 6 lorry drivers, who facilitated and assisted "evaders" to violate the border.
Pre-trial investigations under Article 332 of the Criminal Code "Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine" have been initiated on the identified criminal offences.
As for the attempts of "evaders" to use forged documents to go abroad, on average, every day on the transit section of the motorway "Odessa-Reni" border guards identify from 3 to 7 such persons.
