The first ICC investigations of Russian crimes will be this year - Prosecutor General of Ukraine

As early as this year 2023, the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) will present the first results of an investigation into Russian war crimes in Ukraine.
Ukrainian Prosecutor-General Andriy Kostin said this on Wednesday, 22 February, at a press conference marking the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukrinform reported.
We approach each case, which will be further considered by the ICC, carefully, in cooperation with the ICC prosecutors. Of course, you will see the result of our work this year. I can not say more details yet, but this year you will see the result. I hope that this will happen soon. A lot of people are working on this, - said the prosecutor general.
At the same time, Kostin noted that the absolute majority of Russian war crimes in Ukraine — "around 99 per cent” — will be considered by Ukrainian courts, with international institutions playing "the complementary role for which they were created.”
In addition, he said, a branch of the ICC prosecutor's office will open in Kyiv within weeks. Later, branches will appear in cities close to the front lines.
