The Russians failed to form a huge cauldron, which they so wanted to realize

The exit from Lisichansk was commented on by military expert Kirill Sazonov on his Facebook page.

Foxes were kept for a LONG time! It was not reached after Severodonetsk across the river. They were attacking him with great forces all this time along this bank of the Seversky Donets in the direction of Toshkovka and Gorny. And from the direction of Popasnaya they tried to lock the Foxes in a large cauldron. That is, the heights about which so much is written, and the water barrier did not work.

In addition, Sazonov explained the situation with the heights that the Ukrainian military occupied, and which were supposed to enable ours to repel the attack on Lysichansk.

Since we were not standing in Lisichansk itself, but just at the exit in the direction of Gorny, the heights were behind us, and the path to Toshkovka was in front of us. And I could tell a lot about how they flew. Our artillery was there, and the orc one was ahead. You can hear it all the time, and in the dark there are also alarms. These heights are ironed all over. Constantly. Sometimes it fell on us. Either mines or hailstones. Our beautiful new toilet was smashed on the first day by hail. That is, when the enemy has such an advantage in the number of barrels and ammo, it is a matter of time.

In addition, Sazonov emphasized that Lisichansk was given to the enemy at a great price. Official figures speak of 60-80 units of destroyed enemy tanks and three brigades with personnel and equipment. But the expert believes that in reality these figures are much higher.

Recall that the Ukrainian forces withdrew from Lisichansk after heavy fighting. This became known on the third of July. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that they would continue the fight and return to the city.
