China decides to forge closer economic relations with Russia

For nine months of full-scale war, China has taken a wait-and-see attitude.
This was reported by The Wall Street Journal citing Beijing's political advisers.
For example, according to the paper, Chinese leader Xi Jinping has instructed his government to establish closer economic relations with Russia. Prior to this, during nine months of a full-scale war against Ukraine, China had taken a wait-and-see attitude.
China will now increase its imports of Russian oil, gas and agricultural goods. It also plans to strengthen its energy partnership in the Arctic and increase Chinese investment in Russian infrastructure.
The Russian side has already announced a possible visit of the Chinese leader to Moscow in the spring of 2023.
The WSJ calls economic cooperation between China and Russia a "turnaround" in relations.
