- China will build a railway to Europe bypassing Russia

China will build a railway towards Europe together with Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
This was reported by the Uzbek service of Radio Liberty.
According to journalists, China, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to build a railway towards Europe. Bypassing Russia.
The relevant document was signed at a summit in Xi'an, China.
The new route will start at the Torugart pass in Kyrgyzstan, where there is already a railway line from China, and will run north through the settlements of Arpa and Makmal to Jalalabad, where it will connect with the Uzbekistan railway network. From there it is planned to extend the route to Turkey with a terminus in the EU.
This could shorten the route to Europe by 7-8 days, with a future traffic volume of 5 million tonnes per year.
