There are now 460,000 inhabitants in Mykolaiv Oblast.

The head of the Mykolayiv regional state administration, Vitaliy Kim, said this on the Espresso TV channel.

According to Kim, 90 per cent of residents who were forced to evacuate because of the war have already returned to Mykolaiv Region.

Kim said that Mykolaiv residents are not greatly afraid of the current increase in shelling because they have already experienced a similar incident when the occupiers were right near Mykolaiv.

People are coming back to Mykolaiv, because we have waited so long and lived under stress. So for most Mykolayiv inhabitants what is happening is not a shelling or a very threatening situation. For example, recently "arrivals" have become more frequent in Odessa and Kiev, and people there are not used to it, they leave.

The population of Mykolaiv region today is 460 thousand people. In addition, about 30 thousand migrants from Kherson live in Mykolaiv.
