Borrel will meet with Ukrainian officials during his visit.
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has arrived in Ukraine in order to reduce the degree of tension among Ukrainian politicians after the election of US President Donald Trump. About it writes AFP.
It is noted that Europe's chief diplomat assured Kiev of Europe's continued support for Ukraine.
The message is clear - Europeans will continue to support Ukraine. EU support for Ukraine was my personal priority during my mandate and will remain at the top of the EU agenda," Borrell said.
He emphasised that the EU has supported Ukraine from the very beginning and "will support it as much as possible".
At the same time, he pointed out that no one can give a definite forecast of what the Trump administration will do with military aid to Ukraine and what position he himself will take. Borrel noted that Trump has two more months to formulate his attitude to the war in Ukraine and decide what steps he will take in the conflict.
Borrel added that the positions of most European countries in relation to the aggressive war of the Russian Federation have not changed.
It should be noted, Josep Borrel is to leave his post next month.
Recall, in June, EU leaders re-elected Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission, appointed former Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa as President of the European Council, and the EU voted Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas to replace Borrel.
