Georgia lets in Ukrainians who spent more than 10 days on the border with Russia

Georgia has allowed a group of Ukrainians deported by Russians from Kherson Region to enter the country.
This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.
The Ukrainians were stuck on the border with Georgia after being released from the Russian detention centre for foreigners and stateless persons. A group of deported Ukrainians arrived at the Verkhny Lars checkpoint on the night of 16-17 August.
The Georgian authorities allowed a group of Ukrainians, whom Russia had forcibly removed to its territory before retreating, to enter their territory. Five out of six of our compatriots are former prisoners from Kherson Region," the ministry said.
They are safe and are receiving all the necessary support. Later they will be helped to prepare documents for their return to Ukraine.
It is noted that the entire group of Ukrainians was allowed to officially cross the Georgian border thanks to the work of human rights activists, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Georgia, as well as the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry within the framework of the Co-ordinating Committee for the return of WTO citizens to Ukraine.
