Germany says war has gone beyond Ukraine's borders

Europe faces a long-term threat.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has warned that Europe is now facing a long-term threat and that Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine is no longer local. He was quoted by his publication Spiegel as saying.
Russian aggression against Ukraine has long ceased to be a regional war," he said.
He noted that Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin has "completely switched the country to a war economy" and already considers himself the winner of the war against Ukraine and intends to continue fighting for a new world order.
Pistorius pointed out that military enterprises produce as much weapons and ammunition in three months as the entire European Union produces in a year, and Putin in his speeches increasingly repeats the words about the "new world order", in which in one way or another gives the leading role to Russia.
Pistoruis spoke of the "fragile situation" in Europe and the need for greater investment in Germany's "military preparedness".
According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) newspaper , the Bundeswehr has begun to raise awareness among Germany's largest companies in case of war with Russia. The companies that should be protected by air defence systems have been identified, employees have been identified to undergo pre-war training, and they have been instructed to buy generators and wind turbines. Business leaders have also been advised to think about what to do if the Elbe River is blocked, the railway network is attacked and shops are unable to open due to lack of light.
Earlier, the head of the German Defence Ministry said that Germany is ready to become the main pillar of deterrence of Russian aggression in Europe and plans to deploy a full brigade in Lithuania by 2027. In particular, the country is preparing to become a medical hub for wounded soldiers at the front.
