This will be the UN Secretary General's third visit since the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.

This was reported by the Tagesschau newspaper.

According to journalists, UN Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kiev overnight.

This will be Guterres' third visit since the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. The main reason for the UN secretary-general's arrival is negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on an extension of the grain deal.

The contract to export Ukrainian grain through the Russian-controlled Black Sea expires on 18 March, and the UN is pushing for another extension.

Negotiations to extend the deal are also under way with Ukraine's other partners.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Sunday that Ankara was working hard to extend the grain deal.

Russia said it would only agree to extend the Black Sea grain deal if the interests of its own agricultural producers are taken into account.
