Former NATO secretary general urged British residents to be prepared for war

Stock up on candles, torches, water and battery-operated radios, Robertson urged.
Former NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson has urged Britons to prepare for war - and not only at the army level, but also at home, The Times reports.
Thus, during a speech at a book festival in Wigtown, he said that households should stock up on candles, torches, water and battery-operated radios in advance to be ready for large-scale power cuts or military action.
We are under-prepared, under attack and not safe. It's simple and brutal," emphasised Robertson, who led NATO from 1999 to 2003.
He urged the UK to take responsibility for its own security and cited the example of Norway, where citizens are given annual instructions in case of an attack.
The politician also expressed alarm at the alliance of Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Kim Jong-un, calling it "a combination to be feared."
Putin cannot be trusted," he said, adding that Britain is already subject to daily cyberattacks and information manipulation.
Robertson compared the country's defence capability to Israel, highlighting Britain's lack of Iron Dome-type systems, and called for a major rethink of the government's approach to security.
Waiting for the public to feel the crisis is no longer an option," he emphasised.
