Eugene Maloletka named photographer of the year by The Guardian

Yevhen Maloletka worked with the Associated Press and covered the war in Ukraine.
Yevhen took photos in Mariupol, Izyum and other cities that have become the most prominent and recognisable in the world, The Guardian reported.
Earlier this year, Yevhen documented events in Kazakhstan, but returned home in January due to the growing threat of Russian incursions.
He was first based in Kharkiv: filming moments of combat preparations against a backdrop of peaceful life near the border with the aggressor country.
The Associated Press team of Maloletka, Mstislav Chernov and Vasilisa Stepanenko arrived in Mariupol an hour before the full-scale invasion.
The team had been documenting Russian crimes for 20 days, but were forced to leave because the occupiers began searching for the photographers.
After Mariupol, Yevhen travelled to Kherson.
In October, Chernov and Maloletka's work from Mariupol won a prize in a French competition. And in May, Maloletka and Chernov won the George Gongadze Prize.
