EU considers mobilization in Crimea a violation of international law

This is stated in a statement by the press secretary of the EU foreign service, Nabila Massrali. The statement says:

Today, the Russian Federation has launched another conscription campaign in the illegally annexed Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to recruit Crimean residents to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The campaign comes shortly after Russia announced a mobilization on September 21 that included unjustified targeting of Crimean residents.

EU officials note that in Crimea, during the mobilization, Crimean Tatars were deliberately taken first.

The EU believes that Russia has a special responsibility as a member of the United Nations and a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Russia is obliged to ensure the protection of human rights, in particular in the Ukrainian territories it has illegally annexed. This is what European human rights activists think.

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, the sixteenth conscription campaign will take place, which will also cover the territories seized by Russia after the start of a full-scale invasion on February 24.
