Authorities of the Suzhansky district of Kursk Region have said that the Ukrainian Defence Forces "broke through" the border.

Ukraine has the right to defend itself, including by "striking an aggressor on its territory". This was stated by the speaker of the European Commission for Foreign Affairs, Peter Stano, in a commentary forSuspilnyy.

Ukraine, according to international law, has a legitimate right to defend itself, including by striking at the aggressor on its territory, - commented on the events in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation Stano.

In particular, he noted that the European Union (EU) fully supports Ukraine's legitimate right to defend itself against Russian aggression, as well as the country's efforts to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In his turn, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that the USA had not changed its policy regarding allowing Ukraine to use US weapons "to counter immediate threats on the other side of the border". He said this to journalists on Wednesday, 7 August, Bloomberg writes.

The publication notes that according to Kirby, officials will "turn to Ukrainian colleagues to better understand" the situation.
