Death toll rises again in Dnipro after Russian attack


The death toll from the rocket attack on the Dnieper River has risen to 21, with more than 300 injured.
The consequences of the massive Russian strike on 24 June continue to be counted in Dnipro and the region. According to the latest data, 21 people were killed in the attack, 19 of them in the city itself, according to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, Serhiy Lysaka.
More than 300 people were injured, many are in serious condition. Dozens of wounded remain in hospitals - they are undergoing emergency operations, doctors are working around the clock.
What is known about the attack
In the morning of 24 June, during the air alert, a series of explosions sounded in Dnipro. The air force recorded the launch of two ballistic missiles in the direction of the city.
Under fire came under fire:
residential buildings - private and multi-storey;
odessa-Zaporozhye passenger train No. 52 - the windows were blown out by the blast wave, but there were no direct hits;
14 infrastructure facilities, including schools, kindergartens, a gymnasium, a hospital, a polyclinic, a hostel and an administrative building;
some 19 schools and 10 kindergartens were damaged in total.
Casualties and destruction
The mayor of Dnipro, Boris Filatov, had earlier reported the first death and more than 20 injured, including a 13-year-old girl and a 16-year-old with moderate injuries. The number of victims increased with each passing hour.
The impact caused a massive fire, destroyed residential buildings and damaged many cars. Rescue workers, police and medics worked at the scene. Railway workers managed to quickly evacuate the passengers of the train and organise the replacement of damaged carriages, as well as an additional train for transfer.
