All China's efforts are aimed at paving the way for the start of peace talks, the Chinese foreign minister assured.

China supports holding an international peace conference that will be recognised by both Russia and Ukraine in due time. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said this on Thursday, 7 March, at a press conference on the sidelines of the second session of the 14th National People's Congress, ECNS reported.

According to him, the conference should ensure the participation of all parties and honest discussion of all peace plans.

All conflicts should end at the negotiating table. The sooner negotiations begin, the sooner peace will come," Wang said, noting that China's efforts are aimed at paving the way for the end of conflict and the start of peace talks.

He emphasised that past experience shows that conflict, if prolonged, tends to worsen and escalate to unimaginable proportions for the parties concerned.

According to him, misperceptions and miscalculations would accumulate and could lead to an even greater crisis if peace talks did not take place.

Lessons in this regard should not be forgotten," Wang said.

We shall remind you that earlier Wang Yi said that history will judge all the nuances of the "Ukrainian crisis", but now the most important thing is to stop hostilities. He said this in an interview with the Chinese media after completing his trip to Europe for the Munich Security Conference.
